Latest Issue
No long-winded elaboration is necessary for the role of sound in poetry. Josephine Ng keeps a steady beat as she grieves the loss of her ah ma. Oswin Tan paces himself through thoughtfully-placed rhyme in his ode to a pen. Anisa, on the other hand, may make use of tired out end-rhymes, yet she effectively conveys the retribution of a grandmother who is simply tired of being bitten by bugs all the time. Sound is also present in the prose here whether it be fiction or non-fiction. Andre Koh Tzer Xuin integrates musical references into a story about consoling the broken heart of an online friend over the phone. Leong Hor Sen plays with an onomatopoeic motif in a story about capturing the moment. Sheanen Ong presents an essay about all the things she has heard from the mouth of others and hers. Alongside these are other writings that we have not mentioned, as well as some stunning photography and artwork by artists with an eye for the visual medium.
